Spotting the signs of conflict

Conflict often goes unrecognised, leading to disengagement, decreased productivity and increased turnover. Many problems at work can be resolved by early intervention.

By recognising warning signs early, the key causes of conflict can be addressed effectively and proactively.

Key signs to look out for include:

Declining engagement and participation

A noticeable decrease in participation during meetings, reluctance to contribute ideas, or a lack of interest in team activities can signal disconnection.

Increased absenteeism

Frequent lateness or unexplained absences may be coping mechanisms for employees experiencing conflict.

Reduced collaboration

Reduced collaboration, such as missed deadlines or careless mistakes, can indicate a lack of motivation.
