The value of supporting World AIDS Day at work

World AIDS Day takes place on 1 December each year. The day aims to raise awareness of HIV and AIDS and support those who are affected by it.

Supporting the campaign can help workplaces support employees, increase awareness and tackle stigma.

By demonstrating you are an inclusive workplace, you can:

Ways to support World AIDS Day at work

Wear the Red Ribbon

The Red Ribbon is the universal symbol of awareness and support for people living with HIV.

Share information about the Red Ribbon with employees through communication channels and encourage them to wear a ribbon or something red on the day.

The National AIDS Trust send out a pack of 100 fabric Red Ribbons free to anybody fundraising for National AIDS Trust in the UK. Find out more on the National AIDS Trust website.

Raise awareness

The National AIDS Trust have posters and social media posts you can use to raise awareness in your workplace.

They also have a ready-made HIV presentation that you could use in an awareness-raising session at work.

Share information and encourage conversations

Increase knowledge about HIV and AIDS in your workplace by sharing information and resources.

Encouraging employees to have open conversations can also help to break down stigma around HIV and AIDS.
