Wales’s commitment to becoming a wellbeing economy spotlighted by WHO report

The World Health Organization’s November 2024 report highlights Wales as a leader in building a wellbeing economy. By focusing on health and sustainability in policies and budgets, Wales is setting a global example.

Initiatives like the foundational economy programme, “A Healthier Wales”, and basic income pilots for care leavers show this commitment. These efforts prove that investing in wellbeing promotes innovation and resilience. Employers can support this by aligning workplace strategies with these forward-thinking ideas.

This Wellbeing Economy animation shows how focusing on people’s wellbeing—not just profit—can create healthier, fairer communities. It supports the Wellbeing of Future Generations (Wales) Act 2015, which aims to improve long-term wellbeing.

For employers, this means creating workplaces that care for employees and the environment, leading to happier, more productive teams. It also promotes sustainable practices that benefit everyone. For further information on healthy working environments, visit the HWW website.

World Cancer Day (04 February)

The new World Cancer Day theme 2025-2027 ”United by Unique” places people at the centre of care and their stories at the heart of the conversation.

Time to Talk Day (06 February)

This year, it’s about asking people to get comfortable talking about mental health.

Text a friend, chat to a colleague over a cuppa, go for a walk with a loved one, share something on social media using the hashtag #TimeToTalk – there’s no right or wrong way to check in with someone on Time to Talk Day.

Show your organisations commitment to challenging stigma by signing an organisational pledge.
