The value of supporting Debt Awareness Week in work

Debt Awareness Week is an opportunity for workplaces to reduce stigma, challenge attitudes towards debt and help employees access the support they need.

Financial worries can affect mental health, wellbeing and performance at work. Creating a culture where employees feel able to talk openly about debt and financial wellbeing can help people feel supported and less isolated.

A workplace that actively supports employees with debt and financial wellbeing can:

  • Create a culture of openness, trust and understanding
  • Build resilience, helping employees manage life’s challenges with greater confidence
  • Reduce sickness absence linked to stress, anxiety and other mental health pressures caused by debt and financial worries
