Symptoms and impact on workplaces

Common symptoms of diabetes include:

  • Frequent thirst and urination
  • Persistent fatigue
  • Blurred vision
  • Slow-healing wounds

Poorly managed diabetes can lead to workplace challenges, such as hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), causing dizziness and confusion, or hyperglycemia (high blood sugar), which can result in long-term health issues.

Employees with diabetes may experience increased sickness absence (opens in new window) due to medical appointments and condition management. Symptoms like fatigue can also affect work performance and productivity.
