Discrimination and inequality in the workplace
Despite legal protections, people with protected characteristics still face discrimination and inequality in the workplace.
Over a third of Welsh lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGBT) employees said they hid or disguised their sexuality at work for fear of discrimination. Read the full Stonewall report (opens in new window).
In Wales during 2020-21:
- The employment rate for Black, Asian, and ethnic minority groups in Wales was lower than that for white people
- One in five mothers have reported experiencing harassment or negative comments at work
- Employment rates were similar for people without a religion and Christians, but lower for individuals from other religious groups
- A notable gap exists in the employment rate between disabled and non-disabled people in Wales
