Infection prevention and control in the workplace
Find out more about the importance of infection prevention and control in creating a healthy and safe workplace.
Reporting of infections
Under the Public Health Act (2010) (opens in a new window), there are a number of infections that must be reported (opens in a new window).
If one of these infections is suspected or confirmed, the GP (or other health professional) must notify Public Health Wales (PHW) and/or the local authority environmental health team to investigate.
They will identify anyone who may have been exposed or infected and provide advice on reducing the risk of transmission, which may include in the workplace.
You may need to provide information to help with contact tracing if an employee – or the close contact of an employee, contractor or visitor to a work site – becomes infected or has been exposed to a notifiable disease.
