What is the Workplace Adviser Support?

The Workplace Adviser Support (WAS) gives employers in Wales a chance to have a one-to-one chat with a Healthy Working Wales adviser. These online sessions take place on Microsoft Teams and can last up to two hours.

You can book one-to-one support to help you improve health, safety and wellbeing in your workplace, with discussions based on your responses to the Employer Survey Tool.

Good to know

The Workplace Adviser Support is free, funded by the Welsh Government and run by Public Health Wales. It is designed to offer advice and support — it is not part of a formal training course or award.

Please note, that we will not be able to comment on specific/identifiable employee cases.

Who can access this support?

You can access this support if:

  • You are an employer, manager or wellbeing lead in Wales
  • You want help starting or improving workplace health and wellbeing support
  • You have completed the Employer Survey Tool

How to book a session

Follow these steps to book a session:

  1. Register or log in to the Healthy Working Wales website
  2. Complete the ten-minute Employer Survey Tool
  3. Fill in the contact form to request a Workplace Adviser session

Once we receive your request, an adviser will get in touch within five working days to arrange your first session.

What happens in the session?

Before the first session, your adviser will review the answers you gave in the Employer Survey Tool.
In your sessions, the adviser will:

  • Talk with you about practical steps to support staff wellbeing
  • Share ideas to improve health and wellbeing in your workplace
  • Offer guidance based on your needs and priorities

Typically you will attend up to three sessions with your Adviser, with each session lasting up to two hours, depending on your needs.

After your session:

  • You will get a summary report with clear goals and next steps
  • The Healthy Working Wales team may check in later to see how things are going
  • You will be able to contact your Workplace Adviser via email for additional support if required

Meet the dedicated Workplace Adviser Support team – a group of passionate Workplace Health Advisers supporting employers across Wales to create healthier, happier workplaces.

Pauline Mould – Workplace Health Adviser

Pauline has had a varied career involving work in both the public and private sectors in an advisory capacity covering public health, safety and wellbeing. She has 13 years workplace health experience working as a HWW Workplace Health Adviser involved in the development of workplace health and wellbeing management programmes, business recruitment and engagement for HWW programs, liaison with the public and key stakeholders including CIPD,HSE, FSB and other business organisations.

Pauline has a passion for women’s health and sits on the PHW Women’s Health network. Pauline is currently engaged in e learning and webinar content writing and delivery as part of the transformational delivery of HWW ensuring a business lens is applied to the programme.

Deanna Hughes – Workplace Health Adviser

Deanna is a Workplace Health Adviser with Healthy Working Wales, working with organisations across North Wales to promote healthier workplaces and reduce work-related ill health. Since 2019, Deanna has played a key role in HWW, demonstrating expertise in digital communications, including producing the HWW monthly newsletter and managing social media channels.

Deanna has a wealth of experience in employee health and wellbeing and is an advocate for Nature Connectedness. Deanna is passionate about encouraging ways we can all connect more with nature to improve mental health and wellbeing.

Nikki Davies – Workplace Health Adviser

Nikki is a Workplace Health Adviser with Healthy Working Wales, supporting organisations across South West Wales to build healthier, more inclusive workplaces and reduce work-related ill health. Since joining the programme in 2013, Nikki has played a pivotal role in engaging small and medium-sized employers, delivering targeted advice, training and a wide range of webinars.

With a strong background in employee health and wellbeing, Nikki is a passionate advocate for inclusive workplace practices, particularly in supporting breastfeeding and working parents returning to work. She is equally committed to addressing the wider determinants of health and promoting accessible, equitable wellbeing for all.

Rhian Gleed – Workplace Health Adviser

Rhian is a workplace health adviser within the Healthy Working Wales team, supporting organisations across South West Wales to promote and build healthier, more inclusive workplaces to reduce work-related ill health.

Rhian’s varied careers in small and large, public and private organisations include customer services in public facing settings and enforcement in high-risk environments.

Since joining the programme in 2012, Rhian has played a key role in engaging a wide range of employers, from self-employed individuals to large corporate organisations across various sectors. She delivers tailored advice, facilitates training sessions, and hosts a range of informative webinars.
Rhian has a genuine interest in Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion and is a committed advocate for creating fair, inclusive workplaces where everyone feels respected and supported.

Carl Hill – Senior Workplace Health Adviser

Carl is a Senior Workplace Health Adviser with the Healthy Working Wales team. He works with organisations across South Wales as they take steps to create healthier, more positive workplaces where staff wellbeing is prioritised. In his role, Carl supports employers to build their knowledge, skills, and confidence so they can put practical and lasting health and wellbeing approaches into place.

Since joining the programme in 2020, and with a background in education and health, Carl has engaged with employers who are keen to learn and share good practice. He encourages employers to take ownership of building healthier and happier workplaces, while helping to make sure valuable learning is carried forward across Wales.
