Inspiring a more active workforce in Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board (CTMUHB)

CTMUHB logo

May is National Walking Month, making it the perfect time to think about how you can encourage more movement in your workplace.

At CTMUHB, what started as a simple annual activity challenge has grown year on year since 2023. More than 2,000 staff have now taken part, collectively walking the equivalent of over 17 trips around the world.

One participant shared:

“I found the challenge hugely positive in terms of increasing my own activity levels and prioritising time to get moving.”

Their success shows that you don’t need a large or complex plan to make a difference. Simple, team-based activities can have a real impact on staff wellbeing and activity levels.

This month, take a moment to think about what could work in your organisation. What’s one small change you could introduce to help people move more?

If you have a story to share, tell us and inspire other employers across Wales!
